We would like to express our sincere thanks to Wai Wan for bringing her experience of coaching at the highest levels to Southampton Women’s FC for the past four years.

Taking on the Head of Youth Development role for the past two seasons; Wai will be stepping down at the end of the 2021/22 season and we wish her the best in her future endeavours.

During her time at Southampton, Wai has been a key influence in the success of our youth division, she has been instrumental in laying down the foundations on which the club builds its youth players.

This season saw Wai take on multiple roles within the club including Head of Youth, manager and coach in order to ensure the continued success of Southampton Women's' Youth.

Wai has instilled a “person first, player second” approach to the youth set-up’s philosophy that has proven to be incredibly effective with youth teams reaching five cup finals during the pandemic.

Wai has also overseen the winning of two under-16 titles and most recently guided two of the club’s newly formed teams, under-12 Yellows and under-18s, through unbeaten 2021/22 league runs including gaining promotion for the Yellows.

Development for our youth teams is paramount and Wai has also supported the growth of the under-12 Reds and under-13s as part of her role within the club.

Her incredible results on the pitch are the result of her dedication to ensuring that everyone has what they need to be the best that they can be which has not only been felt by the players but also by the youth coaches as well, who have flourished under her support and guidance.

We are sure that over the next few weeks, you will all get a chance to wish Wai the very best for the future and at Southampton, the dressing room door is always open.
