Southampton sign AFC Bournemouth striker Shannon Albuery

Southampton Women's FC are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Shannon Albuery.

The 23-year-old makes the switch from fellow FA Women's National League Division One South West side AFC Bournemouth.

Albuery has already notched 11 goals this season in 13 appearances for the Cherries continuing the fine vain of form she had last year at Portsmouth.

In 34 games for the Blues Albuery scored 30 goals in all competitions winning the golden boot for Pompey.

The striker has also played for Yeovil Town in the Women's Super League before their drop down the league and change to Bridgwater United.

Manager Aaron Smith was delighted with the signing, he said: "I'm still smiling from the time Shannon agreed to join us.

"I have been such a fan of hers for many years having played against her several times.

"She suits our game model perfectly but most importantly she is a proven goalscorer at a higher level and is the leading goalscorer in our league this season.

"Shannon has integrated herself really well in the group and shown in training how good she actually is."

Albuery is available straight away and could feature in tomorrow's Hampshire Women's Senior Cup Quarter-Final with Winchester City Flyers.
