Southampton Women's FC are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Megan Wood from Ebbsfleet United.
The 22-year-old from Jersey in the seventh player to sign for the Sirens this summer.
Wood moved over to England at the age of 17 to join Yeovil Town (now Bridgwater United) in 2019 where she stayed for a season before a couple of small stints at Buckland Athletic and Keynsham Town.
In 2021 she joined with former Tier 2 side London Bees where she featured 20 times as the team finished eighth in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier.
Last season Wood was a regular for London & South East Regional Women's side Ebbsfleet who narrowly missed out on promotion to the FA Women's National League by two points.
On signing Wood discussed the warm welcome by her now fellow Sirens, she said: "My first week at Southampton has been amazing.
"Everyone’s been so welcoming and the vision of the staff and players is something I can really buy into.
"I’m looking forward to a strong season.
"A couple of things attracted me to Southampton, I think initially I was aware of the quality of players they had retained from last year.
"Then once I got talking to Jamie and met all the girls it became clear everyone was very close and there was a family feel to the club, I think that’s what sold it for me.
"Everyone took me in from session one and made me feel a part of it."
A warm welcome but what can her new teammates and fans expect from Wood on the pitch?
She said: "I think as an attacking player spectators can expect creativity from me.
"I like to express myself on the ball and create chances for the team."
