Ellie Parker today officially joins Southampton Women’s FC ahead of the 2020/21 campaign as the club’s new number one.
After a decade in Berkshire the 29-year-old has swapped the white and black of Maidenhead United for the red and black of Southampton Women’s.
She has been a stalwart of the club for 10 years after making her debut on August 22nd, 2010 against Reading Town where she also kept her first clean sheet of many.
In her debut season she helped the team reach a cup final in her first season before winning the Southern Region Premier Division with the Magpies in 2015.
Now Parker has put pen to paper and signed for Aaron Smith’s side who will be looking to build on last season’s successes.
The manager was delighted to secure Parker’s signature for the year ahead, he said: “Ellie has shown that she is one of the best goalkeepers in the National League during her time at Maidenhead.
“Having been following Ellie's progress over the last 24 months I am delighted to finally get her into the squad for the coming season.
“Already in the short time she has been with us Ellie has integrated herself well with the rest of the squad and impressed me with her ambition and drive to develop.
“It’s important to me that both of our goalkeepers push each other and fight for the shirt but also they form a close-knit unit and support each other through the highs and lows of the season, under the guidance of Craig Burns, our goalkeeping coach.
“Ellie has been given her development plan for the coming season and is thriving in the 1-2-1 sessions that we have been delivering during the lockdown period.”
