Southampton Women's FC captain Warren hangs up her boots

Southampton Women's FC can confirm that captain Kellie Warren will be retiring from football.

After a career spanning over 20 years, Warren has decided to hang up the boots following medical advice and is now waiting to have major surgery.

Warren has made more than 150 appearances for the First Team which has seen her help the club gain back to back promotions to reach the FA Women's National League.

Additionally, she has been an integral back of the captaincy as she has shared the duties in the last two seasons.

She first stepped onto the field back in September 2011 in a 3-3 draw against Wycombe Wanderers having joined from Andover New Street

Her career at the club spans over a decade and has been a constant presence in the squad.

Warren has reached a total of 156 appearances for the club with a return of 32 goals to help push the club forward in an ever changing environment.

Everyone at Southampton Women's FC would like to thank Kellie for her service to the club and to women's football.

We wish her the very best for the future and in your recovery, we will still be with you every step of the way.
