In the matter of minutes Jenman made two incredible saves. The goalkeeper tipped one onto the bar from a powerful shot outside the area and another was well held from close range.

But the visitors made a confident start and took the lead midway through the first half through a moment of brilliance from Glover. She picked up the ball outside the area and beat several defenders before driving a powerful effort beyond the goalkeeper just 22 minutes in.

The Sirens continued to threaten as they looked to build on their advantage. Coulter was unable to convert from close range, while Mills struck the underside of the crossbar with a long-range effort that nearly doubled the lead.

On the 38th minute Lynn went close as she shifted the ball onto her stronger foot before firing just wide from outside the box.

Their second goal arrived four minutes before the break, and again it came from persistent attacking play. Ball won possession inside the final third and showed composure to finish low past the goalkeeper, giving the Sirens a deserved two-goal cushion at half-time.

After the restart, the visitors had opportunities to extend their lead further, with Ball denied in a one-on-one by an alert save from the Portchester goalkeeper.

However, the hosts grew into the game in the second half and began to apply pressure.

Jenman was called into action again to deal with a dangerous free-kick before Portchester set up a tense finish in the 83rd minute, bundling the ball home from a crowded corner.

Portchester pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but the Sirens held firm. Jenman made another important save to preserve the lead, while Lynn was unable to convert at the other end after being played through late on.

Despite a nervy finale, the visitors saw out the remaining minutes to secure the win.
