We sat down with our newly appointed manager to get his thoughts on his journey so far and what’s to come. Here’s what he had to say:
1) What’s your history in football management?
I’ve been coaching for over 12 years now; the last 5 years have been spent in girls’ and women’s football. This will be my first managerial role since managing in girls’ youth football, so it’s an exciting step up. I’ve always loved working with players to help them grow, and this new challenge feels like the perfect opportunity to continue doing just that on a bigger stage.
2) What’s your time at Sirens been like, leading up to now?
I was head coach for the reserves for the 23/24 season, which was a really successful season of development. I had the chance to work with some incredibly talented young players, many of whom are still at the club today. The chance to manage the first team was something I simply couldn’t turn down—it was the natural next step in my coaching journey, and I’m determined to make the most of it.
3) What’s your initial thoughts on taking the role?
I’m extremely proud to be taking on the role as manager of Southampton Women, a club with a rich history. It’s a fantastic feeling to be entrusted with this responsibility, and I’m looking forward to getting started. From my conversations with the chairman and coaches, it’s clear we all share the same ethos and values, and together we’re committed to building the right environment for the players. I’m confident that success will follow if we work together as one.
4) What’s your aims for the team next season and beyond?
The last few seasons have been challenging for the club, but with the new chairman coming in and steadying the ship, we now have a great platform to build on. My first aim is to get the girls playing well and consistently, and to rebuild the identity of the club on the pitch. I want to bring back that winning feeling, create a sense of belief and confidence within the group, and ultimately push to achieve something special.
5) As a manager, what style of play do you like to implement?
I like my teams to be possession-based and to play exciting, attacking football. I encourage my players to be creative and brave on the ball—taking risks when needed and playing with confidence. It’s about playing with purpose and making sure every player enjoys their football.
6) What type of manager are you?
I’d describe myself, along with the other coaches, as someone who wants to create a culture and environment where players feel free to express themselves. For me, it’s about fostering a positive atmosphere where everyone sticks together as a group and feels valued. If we get that right, it sets the stage for real progress and enjoyment for everyone involved.
7) What’s your plans for pre-season?
Trials start next week, so plans are already well underway. We’ve got pre-season friendlies lined up, with only a few gaps to fill. The main focus will be on building our playing philosophy with the players, and ensuring every session ties in with how we want to play this season. Fitness will also be crucial, especially in a tough Southern Region Premier Division, so we’ll be working hard from day one.
8) How well do you already know the squad?
I know a few of the players from my previous time here, which is great, and I’m looking forward to meeting those I haven’t worked with yet. I’m excited to get everyone together as a collective and to start building those connections that are so important in a team.
9) What’s your life like away from football?
I’m married and live with my wife and my four stepchildren. I also have three boys of my own, who are all grown up now. When I get the chance, I like to get in the gym, but football takes up a lot of my family’s time! My stepdaughter plays as well, so it’s very much a footballing family. It keeps us all busy but it’s a lifestyle we love.

Final thoughts:
The club would like to thank our new manager for sharing his insights and plans for the future. There’s a real sense of optimism around the club right now, and we can’t wait to see the team in action this season. Stay tuned for updates on pre-season and the squad as we prepare for an exciting new chapter!
