El Reid brings you the action from Southampton Reserves' win in the FAWNL Reserves Cup
Southampton Women's FC Reserves fought back from 2-0 down to clench a deserved point in a 3-3 draw with AFC Bournemouth Development on Sunday.
Gabri Tchuenkam's double and Phoebe Hamilton's impressive long-range strike secured the Reserves their first league point of the season as the team came from behind twice.
Both teams had moved from the Southern Region Division 1 to the FA Women's National League Reserves South West.
Bournemouth were sitting top of the table ahead of the game after a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle Development and a 3-0 win over Exeter City Reserves.
Southampton, however, had only one previous league game under their belt - a 2-0 defeat to Portsmouth FC Development.
The Reds had to make an early change due to injury for centre-back, Emily Kendall with the young Kaitlyn Cousens replacing her.
Bournemouth were structured tightly and pressed Southampton well.
The visitors capitalised early, with goals from ex-Southampton winger, Ana Machado, and a well-placed finish from the Cherries' captain, Grace Morgan.
Applause however would soon turn to goalkeeper, Ellie Parker, who sent a long drop-kick over Bournemouth's defensive line.
The ball eventually found the feet of Tchuenkam who slotted home for Southampton's first before half-time
With just one goal separating the two sides Southampton resumed the game, rejuvenated and unified.
The tense midfield battle continued with Caitlin Bevan putting her body on the line repeatedly, and Bournemouth's Nikka Hampshire causing a nuisance with her attacking runs in behind.
Both sides showed no signs of letting up.
Southampton worked as a team to keep gaining ground, but the game remained end-to-end.
From the left, Tchuenkam would soon find the net again with a delightful curled shot into the far corner.
Dissatisfied with a draw, Bournemouth fought to win themselves corners and chances in the opposition's box.
Molly Gladwell restored the visitor's lead with their third goal of the game as she moved skilfully through Southampton's defence.
Emily Flegg and Tchuenkam interlinked together up top to provide more opportunities.
Amanda Jones and Lucy Wilson continued their efforts to protect Parker's goal.
After a brief scrap in Bournemouth's box for the ball, Hamilton strode forward to loop the ball into the top right corner.
The referee blew the full-time whistle with Southampton earning their first point of the season.
