Southampton were defeated in a seven-goal thriller, as Plymouth got their first three points of the season.

Tiana Campbell’s 94th minute denied Southampton Women's FC Reserves a share of the points as Plymouth Argyle Development won 4-3.

Goals were aplenty in the first-half, but the Sirens failed to do the double over last weekend’s opposition.

Plymouth now leapfrog Keynsham Town to seventh place with their first league win of the season.

To Southampton’s surprise, Argyle were the first to score, with Megan Bishop netting from outside the box.

Bishop found space inside to strike the ball, which narrowly slipped past Charley Sanford’s hands.

Southampton were far from satisfied, and ten minutes late equalised through Lucy Coalter.

The young forward controlled a high ball and fought off Izzy Baskett to cut inside and finish; the ball hitting the underside of the crossbar.

A dichotomy was beginning to show between the game and last Sunday’s, as Plymouth regained their advantage.

As Southampton tried to force Argyle back, Baskett played a direct ball towards Campbell on Southampton’s six-yard line.

Centre-back Libby Gilmore attempted to clear, but her header sent the ball into her own net.

The play was often down Southampton’s left flank, however, Coalter and Lucy Wilson struggled to break through.

Manisha Kaur was showing her skill and composure, as Campbell continued to make a nuisance of herself.

As time edged closer to half-time, stand-in keeper Sanford, played a deep drop-kick towards Emily Flegg.

Plymouth failed to clear, and Flegg hit the ball first-time over the keeper’s head.

The Sirens struggled to keep their grip on the game, which saw Emma King committing a foul on Campbell just outside the box.

Campbell rose to the challenge and curled her free-kick into the top left corner.

Half-time came, and Southampton had a lot of work to do.

Sirens manager, Alex Rigby, made a trio of quick substitutions which saw Marley Curtis, El Reid and Lucy Wilson be replaced by Lauren Knight, Eloise Ashley and Kaitlyn Cousens.

The pace of play started to quicken with the introduction of fresh legs, but the scoreline remained.

It wouldn’t be until 75 minutes, when Southampton found a glimmer of hope.

King cleared forwards to the awaiting Flegg, who set to Coalter, before making her run through Plymouth’s defence.

Flegg received the ball again, to slot the ball low into Plymouth’s goal.

Southampton continued their attacking attempts but frequently fell victim to the offside flag.

A tense atmosphere started to brew as both teams became incredibly frustrated.

The chance of three points started to slip away from the Sirens, and in the dying minutes of the game, Campbell secured her brace.

Plymouth moved through Southampton’s midfield and played Campbell through on goal to tuck the ball past Sanford.

It was delight for Argyle at the final whistle but disappointment for the Sirens as the visitors picked up their first league win of the season.
