Southampton Women's FC is delighted to confirmed that Alex Rigby will become the new Reserves Team Manager.
Rigby currently coaches the Adjutant General's Corp Women's Football Team after beginning his coaching journey in 2019.
The father of two began life with Tidworth Town before moving to coach Salisbury under-18s while also working with the AGC Women's team.
He then moved to Colchester where he was working with Colchester United Girls Development Centre.
Rigby is currently in his third year of university where he is studying Sport Fitness and Coaching, in the last stages of becoming a qualified Sports Massage Therapist and has recently been accepted onto the UEFA B Licence course.
On bringing Rigby into the fold, First Team Manager Aaron Smith said: "I'm so happy to be able to welcome Alex to the club.
"We have been working together remotely whilst we waited for him to move south and I'm impressed with his drive to improve and his attention to detail.
"Matt and Sam did a wonderful job last season with the squad so Alex knows he has big shoes to fill but he will be coming in with a different approach and ideas and it's exciting that he will be leading us in the National League Reserve section.
"He is just about to start working towards his UEFA B Licence which is only going to benefit the squad and the club as a whole."
Rigby said: "I suppose what would be important for me would be to focus on the environment as the girls have to be comfortable in their surroundings for me to get the most out of them.
"I am in the Army so fitness and discipline will also be important to me.
"But I can’t wait to get started and I am genuinely honoured that the club has chosen me to coach the girls in the coming season."
