Former Royal Wootton Bassett Manager joins the Sirens

Southampton Women's FC are delighted to announce that Jamie Lloyd Davies has appointed Simon Harrison as his Assistant Manager.

Harrison joins after a season with Royal Wootton Bassett Women in the South East Regional Women's League.

His CV stretches back several years as he got into football coaching through his wife and when in 2016 she needed a team they founded Swindon Supermarine Women.

Harrison coached the women's team while also working at Cheltenham Town Academy he moved on after a year where he worked for Swindon Town Academy.

He was an under-18s coach for Royal Wootton Bassett before a return to Cheltenham was on the cards working as an Analyst and Coach in 2020.

The coach now makes the switch to the south coast and was attracted by the environment and the progress of the Sirens.

He said: "As soon as I met the players and staff I could tell that there is a really good vibe about the club.

"There's a real family feel about the place, and everyone seems keen to work together to create something special.

"The club feels professional with its structure and ambition and there is a sense of excitement about what the future holds and so I am looking forward to being part of that journey.

Harrison had looked to take a break from the game before considering a return but a call from Jamie Lloyd Davies changed all of that.

He said: "It is an absolute honour to have been asked by Jamie to join him as his Assistant Manager.

"After my last role as manager of Royal Wootton Bassett Women, I had started to lose my passion for the game, and I fully intended to take a break from football.

"But Jamie came in and offered the position to me, and it didn't take long for me to realise what a fantastic opportunity this was to be part of this fantastic, progressive club.

"I previously worked in the women's game, but I have also worked in professional football as both a coach and analyst.

"I feel I can bring this experience to the table to support Jamie in ensuring that the process he puts in place is progressive and effectively meet the objectives he wants to set to achieve success."
