Southampton Women's FC are delighted to welcome Libby Carter to the Sirens ahead of the new season.
The talented goalkeeper arrives at the club after progressing through a number of successful development pathways, bringing with her a strong work ethic and an eagerness to continue developing in senior football.
Libby began her football journey at Fleet Town Girls & Ladies, where she progressed through the age groups from Under-7s to Under-16s between 2015 and 2023. She then joined Inspire Girls Football Academy, spending two seasons furthering her development while also earning selection for the London & South East Representative Team, where she represented the region for two consecutive years.
Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Carter joined Ascot United Under-18s in the JPL, while also gaining valuable experience with the club's Women's First Team and Development Squad across the past two campaigns. Now, she takes the next step in her career by joining the Sirens.
Speaking after signing for the club, Libby said:
"I am really pleased and excited to be joining Southampton. Pre-season so far has been really positive, and I can't wait to get started."
First Team Manager Aaron Smith believes Carter will add further quality and competition to an already strong goalkeeping department.
"Adding to our goalkeeping group was always going to be a challenge because quality goalkeepers are hard to find, so we're delighted to welcome Libby to the club.
"From the moment she arrived, she's shown a first-class attitude and has already impressed both myself and the coaching staff with the level of her ability."
"We now have two excellent goalkeepers who will push each other every day in training while working together to maintain the high standards we expect. Healthy competition is vital, and I'm confident it will bring the best out of both of them."
Libby's arrival further strengthens the Sirens' squad ahead of the new campaign, adding another talented goalkeeper eager to continue her development and make her mark in red.
Everyone at Southampton Women's FC would like to welcome Libby to the club and wish her every success in a Sirens shirt.
