Southampton Women’s FC are delighted to welcome back Lee Hurrell to the Sirens, with Hurrell returning to the club as Technical Lead ahead of the new season.
With 15 years of coaching experience, the majority of which has been within the women’s game, Hurrell brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across academy, development and first-team football.
His coaching career has included managing the development team at Portsmouth and working as part of their first-team staff, as well as coaching within the academies at Bristol City and Brighton, where he worked with players who have gone on to play at WSL level.
Hurrell also spent a season in Canada as Director of Player Development at Toronto High Park FC, gaining valuable experience overseas before returning to England.
His relationship with First Team Manager Aaron Smith goes back several years, with the pair
first working together at Chichester City Ladies, where they finished third in the National League Premier South. Hurrell has since worked with Smithy during two previous spells at Southampton Women, making his return to the Sirens his third spell at the club following a season working in the men’s game at Redhill.
Aaron Smith speaking on Lee Hurrell return:
”Having Lee come in has elevated our staff team on a number of levels. His technical
knowledge and ability to watch the game in a different way is the best I’ve seen. I have worked with him for many years and I’m so happy that he has agreed to come in this season to help us push for promotion.”
Speaking on his return to Southampton Women, Lee Said:
”I’m really excited to be returning to Southampton Women, it’s a really talented squad with a great mix of youth and experience. Smithy’s also put together a top group of staff, I’m looking forward to working with some familiar faces and then new ones and seeing what we can achieve this season”
Hurrell’s return adds further experience to the Siren’s coaching setup as the club continues to build towards the new campaign.
Everyone at Southampton Women’s FC would like to welcome Lee back to the club and wish him every success in his role.
