A familiar face returns to Southampton as the club goes under new management.

Southampton Women’s FC can confirm the appointment of Aaron Smith as the new club chair.

Smith left the club in 2023 after four seasons as First Team manager.

His most notable achievements in his tenure was an FA Cup Fourth Round finish in the 2019/20 season, and being back-to-back SDFA Cup finalists - lifting the trophy in 2023.

Off the pitch, Smith also supported the collaboration with Since 71 and Kit and Bone to celebrate the club’s fiftieth anniversary in 2021 with a commemorative match shirt - the new badge design was later adopted in the club’s identity transition into the Sirens.

Smith’s return to the Sirens follows the departure of Russ Kitching, who was Southampton Chair for the past two seasons.

Smith said: “I’m happy to be back working at the club that brought me so many happy memories.”

Rob Spratley has also been appointed as vice chairman under Smith.

“After being with this amazing club in various roles and responsibilities over the last four years, and predominantly as the U15s Yellows manager, it is a privilege to be nominated as vice chairman.”

Spratley continued: “I aim to help this club progress with both the Senior and Youth set-ups moving forward.”

“The targets this time around are very different,” Smith said, “but it’s a challenge that myself and the new committee are looking forward to.”
