
Southampton Women's FC's under-12s progressed to the next round of the Hampshire Cup after a thrilling game that was settled on penalties.
The under-18s went three points clear in their league with another great win while the under-12 Yellows bowed out of the Hampshire Cup against a strong AFC Bournemouth CST team.
Under-12 Yellows
One of our newest teams to the club continued their development as they faced AFC Bournemouth CST in the Hampshire Cup.
Bournemouth posed a tough test for the youngsters who had players in the team who only took up the sport in the summer.
Southampton battled hard all game and gave everything they had however, the Cherries progress into the next round.
Under-12 Reds
For the under-12 Reds (pictured) they took on Stubbington Skylarks under-12s for the second time this season.
The Reds started strong and were 3-1 up at the break.
Two great teams goals were carved out both finished by Ayesha Banda while Kate Bennet scored a lovely solo effort as the team took a strong hold on the game.
It was a high intensity second-half as Southampton looked to keep the scoreline and progress into the next round of the cup.
Stubbington hit back late on grabbing two late goals that took the tie to penalties.
Polly Fairhead, Mia Freemantle, Lizzie Ralph and Banda cooly slotted away their penalties while Jess Eyeres saved one penalty and Stubbington hit the woodwork with the other.
When Banda's penalty hit the back of the next it sealed the Reds' place in the next round the Hampshire Cup with a 4-2 win on penalties.
Manager's thoughts: "The girls worked extremely hard to get a place in the next round and it was certainly a hard-fought match.
"We were all extremely proud of their display on Saturday and hopefully this is the start of a great run in the cup."
Under-18's
A strong win for the under-18s on Saturday put them three points clear at the top of the table.
Kaitlyn Cousens led the line for the team as she put in a player of the match performance against AFC Portchester which saw seven different goal scorers.
Gabriella Tchuenkam broke the deadlock before quick goals from Abi Airs, Bonnie Yates and Nikka Hampshire added to the scoreline before half-time.
It was a strong performance from the u18s however, there were moments from Portchester where they threaten Maddie Stanbury's goal but they couldn't break through.
A counter-attack saw Tchuenkam square for Airs to finish for her brace before Amy Smith pounced on the loose ball to score.
There was a flurry of more goals in the final 10 minutes as Eloise Ashley lobbed the goalkeeper and then Tchuenkam scored her second of the afternoon.
Saskia Sims finished off a top performance for the u18s, slotting home as she went one vs one with the keeper.
Manager’s thoughts: “The girls were magnificent, I couldn’t have asked any more of them.
"I gave them scenarios to deal with and rotated their positions in order to make sure they didn’t have it easy on the pitch.
"They rose to every challenge I gave them and then some.
"Even going down to eight players at one point but playing the majority of the second half with nine.
"What an account of themselves they gave today. Working hard for each other and really supporting each person on the pitch when they needed to.
"They deserve to be where they are in the league and I am so proud of them”
