Southampton Women's FC will be looking for a reaction after defeats in the league and the league cup when they face AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday, September 6th

Jamie Lloyd Davies' side lost 1-0 at home to Keynsham Town on Sunday in their first FA Women's National League match of the season.

Brooke Stirrup scored the match's only goal just before half-time as she took advantage of a miscommunication between Chloe Tucker and Grace Jenman.

The attacker raced through to nip the ball from between the two and shot from a tight angle two minutes before the end of the first-half.

Despite plenty of possession and chances, the Sirens could find a breakthrough as Keynsham returned home with their first three points of the season.

Fortunes have been better for Wednesday's hosts who made five new signings in the summer including the return of Gemma Hillier and former Southampton player Shannon Albuery.

The Cherries ran rampant against Selsey winning 13-0 with new signing Gemma McGuinness grabbing a hat-trick against the Sussex based side.

There were braces for Molly Gladwell and Maisy Smith and there were another six goalscorers for Bournemouth.

Bridgwater United were next up for last season's Hampshire Women's Senior Cup winners in both the National League Cup and in the league.

Over 400 spectators watched the Cherries beat the United in the League Cup Determining Round where it took until the 75th for the first goal.

Summer signing Alisha Buckingham broke the deadlock after coming on just past the hour mark and then Katie James doubled it before the full-time whistle to send Bournemouth in the First Round of the League Cup.

A week later the two faced up again at Ringwood but this time in the league where Buckingham was on target once against as Bournemouth won 3-1.

Matches against Bournemouth have always been intense and tough between the two sides with the Cherries having come out on top in the last five encounters in all competitions.

Last time out Shannon Sievwright scored for the Sirens as they lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth back in March, Molly Clark and Pearl Mortimer put the visitors ahead in the first-half.
