Southampton Women's FC are on the road looking for their first league win of the season when they visit Bristol Road to take on Portishead Town.

The Sirens sit just outside the relegation zone on goal difference after they picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Abingdon United in the FA Women's National League Division One South West.

Izzie Thorogood was on target to tap home Erin Bloomfield's cross but Southampton couldn't hold on for the win as a mistake at the break gifted Abingdon a goal to see the points shared.

A week later though Jamie Lloyd Davies' side did pick up a win, although in the FA Women's National League Plate, beating Bridgwater United 2-1 at Test Park.

Former Bridgwater player Meg Wood fired in the opener which was cancelled out before half-time, however, substitute Britt Jeal had the final say as she scored within minutes of coming off of the bench.

Sunday's opposition are now a familiar outfit in Portishead who picked up their only points of the season on the opening with a home win over newly promoted Torquay United.

Annys Turner scored a braced as the Possets ran out 4-2 winners over the Devonish based side, goals from Amy Clark and Lucy Hilton-Jones helped the team to victory.

Since then, Town have gone on a losing streak of seven games which has seen them concede 38 goals in all competitions.

Portishead have scored in every league game with Clark their top goalscorer on three and it was an accomplishment that they managed in 17 of their 22 league games last season.

Last time the two sides met at Bristol Road the Possets shocked the Sirens with a 3-0 win as they stormed out of the blocks as the visitors looked off the pace.

Rosie Hill bagged a brace as Southampton returned to Hampshire empty handed however, it was a different story when the two sides met in the reverse fixture.

The Sirens were 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Shannon Albuery, Rebecca Barron, Emma King and Hope Suominen at Redbridge Community School.

Heading into the game Lloyd Davies' side will hope to build on their recent results as they try to move away from the drop zone.

There are no new injury worries with Shannon Sievwright and Kirsty Whitton still working on their rehabilitation.
