Southampton Women's FC are looking to cause an upset as they host Championship side Watford in the Third Round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.

The Hornets are newly promoted to the second tier of the women's game and has found life rather difficult this season as they sit bottom of the table five points from safety.

Damon Lathrope's side have recorded just one win this season which came against the current league leaders Charlton Atheltic in early September with their other two points coming in draws with Durham and Reading.

After soaring to the FA Women's National Southern Premier title and then winning 1-0 against Nottingham Forest in the FAWNL play-off match Watford haven't been able to adjust to life in the Championship.

Despite the run of form the Golden Girls are favourites heading into the match with them two leagues above the Sirens and a plethora of experience in their squad.

Two former Tottenham Hotspurs players lead the attack for Watford in Bianca Baptiste and Gemma Davison but they have the youthful presence of ex-Oxford United striker Carly Johns and a bright spark in England under-19 forward Michelle Agyemang.

17-year-old Agyemang netted twice on international duty earlier this week in a 3-3 draw against the Netherlands for the young Lionesses side.

For the Sirens they head into the game following their two wins in the FA Cup.

A Meg Wood hat-trick was cancelled out by Brentford who fought back to 3-3 to take the game to extra-time before Leah Etheridge scored in the 115th minute winner.

Last Sunday Southampton hosted league rivals Maidenhead United in the Second Round and ran out 3-0 winners.

Chloe Ball returned to the starting line-up and against the run of play scored her first goal for the club as she got on the end of Izzie Thorogood's low cross.

The lead was extended on the stroke of half-time as Ellie Chaffe thundered home with her left foot before vice captain Shannon Sievwright completed the win direct from a corner in the 62nd minute.

A win against Watford would be an incredible achievement for Jamie Lloyd Davies' young side not only that but the £35,000 prize money up for grabs would go a long way to helping with the club's finances to invest into next season.
